Some people use them as synonyms, but Digitization, Digitalization, and Digital Transformation are not the same thing. They indicate different steps that guide the company on the path to create digital innovation.

The difference already appears from the definition:

  • Digitization: the transition of audios, videos, images, and texts from analog to digital.
  • Digitalization: the use of digital technologies to change a business model and provide new revenue and value generation opportunities; it is the process of moving to a digital company.
  • Digital Transformation: the system-level restructuring of economies, institutions, and societies that occurs through digital diffusion.

Why should SMEs also embark on the Digital Transformation journey? What is the right combination to adapt to the changes brought about by Digital Transformation? The answers in the article “Digitization, Digitalization, Digital Transformation: what’s the difference?” on the DeltalogiX blog.
