When we talk about Industry 4.0, we refer to projects, innovations, and technologies that enable the automation and digitalization of business activities.

The goal is to optimize and make efficient processes. In this field fall all the innovations that are characterizing the fourth industrial revolution. Here are the main ones:

Big Data

Data is the real protagonist of the Digital Transformation era. For this reason, some software allows the management and constant analysis of the information produced by a business. In some cases, however, the amount of data is so large that it requires the intervention of specific professionals. In fact, we speak of data scientists or experts with mathematical, statistical, and computer skills.

Cloud Storage

As the amount of data to be managed increases, so does the demand for storage space. The cloud is also constantly changing. Current solutions allow for customization of both infrastructure and size based on the storage space needed. The hybrid cloud, for example, is a mix between the public cloud managed by providers and the private cloud, whose infrastructure is owned by the organization.

Internet of Things

We get our data from connected devices through sensors. Whether it’s industrial machinery or household appliances, the advantage of IoT is that we can interact in real-time with everyday objects remotely. We can turn on the TV with a voice command or activate the passage of information between two machines on the same production line.

Artificial Intelligence

This is one of the innovations of the 4th industrial revolution that generates the most hype. On the one hand, because we are curious to understand how AI manages, through automation and learning, to emulate human activities. On the other, because thanks to software equipped with it, we can do things previously unimaginable.

Cybersecurity

Ever since enterprise data came online, words like Malware, Phishing, Denial-of-Service attack have become a red flag even for the less experienced. The web offers us great opportunities but also great risks. That’s why most companies invest in Cybersecurity for up-to-date and adequate protection of their business.

Sustainable Innovations

Industry 4.0 projects often aim at environmental, social, and economic sustainability. The climate and environmental emergencies that are affecting the world in which we live require concrete actions and a Strategic Sustainability Plan to improve our future.

The potential of these innovations is still in the making. However, I suggest you read the full article to find out which ones are disrupting the world economy and how we arrived at the 4th industrial revolution.
